The Golden Age of Trucking Museum features lecture on Beer Steins

Ben Bereza to speak on collecting steins during The Golden Age of Trucking Museum’s “Beer and Pizza Competition” on May 8th in Middlebury, Conn.

Beer stein collector Ben Bereza will give a lecture on the art of collecting beer steins and the history of beer at the “Beer and Pizza Competition” being held at the Golden Age of Trucking Museum on May 8th from 7 – 10pm. Bereza has been collecting beer steins for over 30 years, and in that time he has gained extensive knowledge on the many interesting facets of stein collecting.  Bereza’s lecture will cover the origins of steins from many countries, history, categories, art forms, construction methods, and different materials used in the construction of steins.  He will also display some of his collection with steins ranging from the relatively inexpensive modern examples to ultra-high end collectables.

Bereza will also present himself in authentic German lederhosen for the occasion.  “Beer is German in origin and it’s only fitting that we observe the beer stein’s roots,” said Bereza.  He will also take questions from the audience at the end of his lecture and his talk will hold something for the beginning and veteran collector alike. The lecture will begin at 8pm.

This people’s choice event is being promoted by Terry Boyd of Mountview Wine and Liquor with all proceeds directly benefiting the truck museum. Terry will be bringing in several beer distributors with a sampling of their various beers. A local band, The Hollister Thompson Band will provide live entertainment. Local restaurants that are participating include Perrotti’s West Street Pizza & Pub, 121 Restaurant & Bar and Corky’s Restaurant & Pizza. There is still time for restaurants to sign up to participate in this event. Attendees to the event will vote for their favorite beer, pizza and table display and the winners will be awarded trophies. Tickets to the event are $20. per person; 21 and over only. All proceeds will benefit the museum.
